How to Make a Gingerbread House out of Graham Crackers, Ideas and tips

Do you want to build a gingerbread house, but don’t want to go to the trouble of baking actual gingerbread?

It’s one of those ideas that sound like so much fun, and at the same time, so much work!

You could purchase a Gingerbread house kit, but somehow that feels like it lacks originality.

It might be nice, to have something turn out perfect for once, but having your own style, is something you can’t put a price on.

I remember making a gingerbread house out of actual gingerbread pieces that were measured and cut so that I could construct a house with the pieces and decorate it from there.

I don’t even remember what it looked like when I was done.

I think that it wasn’t memorable enough…there wasn’t the joy of having my own creative looking house when I finished.

My absolute favorite times of putting together a gingerbread house, was when my family made gingerbread houses using Graham crackers and royal icing.

And it’s so rewarding to see what everyone comes up with!!!

I have seen some incredibly cute graham cracker gingerbread house building results and will share a few of those ideas with you here.

You will need

Any candy you want or like

Cardboard square covered with tinfoil (any size that you want to make it)

A youthful and adventurous spirit!

Give yourself and others plenty of space and grace to have fun making these Graham Cracker gingerbread houses.

This activity is all about the fun and not perfection. And cleaning up the mess is worth it!

Pro tip-

Have patience with the first few pieces you put together.

Give the royal icing time to set, maybe sing a Christmas song or two while you wait?

Hold those pieces together patiently, and you will be glad you did!

The first piece or two that you put together, will determine how the rest of your house will stand as you build it.

Patience is incredibly essential and makes the rest of your building a success! Don’t rush the beginning. I cannot emphasize this enough!!!
