5 Quick and Easy Steps to a Better Day!

There are so many days, that I get up and don’t feel like I’m motivated at all to do anything that day!  Soooo unmotivated!!! I think that we must all have those days at times and need to quickly and easily boost our confidence in ourselves.

Even being motivated enough to make breakfast and face the beginning of the day is hard sometimes! Soooo hard!  …It happens to me so often, but I have learned a few simple tricks to feeling better about myself and quickly boost my confidence.

There are so many ways to bolster confidence, from listening to motivational quotes, to certain poses and phrases while talking to yourself in front of the mirror, to specific exercises and the list can go on.  I don’t have time for all of those things and I’ve never gotten into the habit of doing them.  Honestly, creating a new habit is hard, and listen… I can only tackle that now and then!

In this post, I talk about 5 easy and quick tips that help me to have an immediate confidence boost and greater motivation.

I have six kids and usually by the time I get up, it means that I’m getting up because someone needs something right away.  So I have to incorporate the things that I do to boost my confidence in myself and to motivate myself for the day into my regular steps that I would do to get ready for a normal day.

  1. Prayer
  2. Outfit
  3. Hairdo
  4. Earrings
  5. Lip balm
  • Before I even climb out of bed, I try to mentally send a greeting to God and ask for grace to live my day well. I would love to be able to have a devotional time, of reading and prayer and reflection and collect myself for the day ahead, but haven’t yet gotten to do that. So I at least say something to God and ask for help for the day. And then I’m up…

      • As I’m picking out my outfit for the day, instead of picking out drab colors which would reflect how I feel at the moment or comfortable ones that I would just wear around the house to do chores, I select an outfit that makes me feel attractive, one that people tend to complement me on.

Even if it’s too nice to do household chores in, it makes me feel better about myself for the day and then I’m able to feel more motivated to get things done that I should get done.  I also will pick brighter colors because I feel like that makes you more alive feeling and motivated as well.

Brighter colors can give you a sense of energy and vitality that wearing drab colors cannot.  Think Pink, yellow, red, floral, bright patterns.

For some of you, wearing a classy outfit of all black may give you an in charge of your day feeling.  So if you’re one of those people, that’s the type of outfit that I would pull out of your closet. Feel like a leader, like a businesswoman, like somebody who is in control of the day.

        • My most common hairdo, is a ponytail in the back and that’s it.  So on days when I feel like I need to be more motivated, have more bounce in my step, more energy and a brighter outlook on my day, I will actually do a higher ponytail and oftentimes just turn it into a messy bun right at the crown of my head in the back. Bouncy, flouncy and girlish!  So whatever hairdo makes you feel bolder, or more attractive would be the right choice for you.
        • One of my favorite ways to boost my outlook and how I feel about myself, is to put on a pair of earrings that I find give me a bold or classy or girly or flirty look.  There’s just something about a pair of earrings! It gives a finished/polished feel that adds to every outfit. I’m a devoted wearer of earrings and love to compliment every look with a pair. It feels like it completes an outfit and also adds character and fun and detail to your face and upper body.

My favorite style is a larger teardrop shape, or something flashy…YOU know which pairs are your favorite! Let them do their magic!

        • On those mornings, when I don’t feel like I have the time or energy to put on my face, I will oftentimes just simply apply mascara, or some tinted lip balm, or a really nice bright shade of lipstick, just to give myself a pop of color on my face or to make my eyes look more awake, and those simple things will oftentimes make me feel much more confident and ready for my day.

Those are the five things, that are really the most helpful for me on these mornings and I really don’t have much time.

I really just want to feel the quickest results of starting to feel more confident and motivated for the day and ready to face what I know is outside my bedroom door.

In addition, my most recent experiment, is having an exercise routine, which is something that I’ve never been able to stick with before.  I’ve never been very overweight, but as I’ve had a harder time losing weight after having each of my babies, I decided that I should do some sort of exercise routine in the mornings more consistently.  It is so hard to stick to it, since I feel hard pressed to get out and make breakfast and sometimes the kids just can’t wait for my 20 mins of exercise to be over, but I keep trying to fit it in, getting up earlier than I would normally, to do it before I just can’t fit it in anymore.

Homeschooling, has helped with giving me a little flexibility in the morning, because if our schooling starts at a little different time of day than the previous day, that’s alright!

I’ve also had a very hard time staying committed to anything that is hard.  Which is quite laughable because motherhood and home schooling and cooking from scratch are all hard things that I am sticking with right now! My husband bought me an exercise bike at one time, which was very helpful in losing weight after the birth of two of my babies, but I found that it was very hard on my back, so of course, I didn’t gravitate toward using it very much.

I’ve never had a ton of time to go for a walk or have some sort of official membership to a gym and being a stay at home mom, with so many kids and the lifestyle that we’ve chosen, has made it so that I have to incorporate exercise right into my day at home because I can’t go somewhere to do that.

So I finally found a YouTube channel that is more like dancing! But it is still effective.  And like many women have reported before me, exercising has made me feel more energetic, a touch exhausted and tired, yes but, weirdly energetic!

So if you have time, fitting 10 minutes, 15 minutes, or 20 minutes of this type of exercising into the day before your morning begins, can be an additional help!

To be able to actually do that though, I’ve had to make myself get up earlier than the kids, which is something I have not consistently done in the past.  So it’s become a very character building thing for me. Please tell me I’m not the only mom who doesn’t always get up before her kids!

I hope there’s a few helpful tips here that can actually aid you in boosting your confidence in yourself every morning!  You are worth it, and I know that mamas need every little bit they can, to help them feel ready for their days, confident, and equipped to face the tasks that await them in each and every one of their days. You are amazing and should feel that you are as well!

If you have a few tips and tricks that you use to boost your day, I’d love to hear what they are! Please drop me a comment so that I and additional readers can benefit from it as well. Thank you very much for sharing!
